Hella Wet Spelt Levain with Pears (2 Pack)
Acme’s Hella Wet Spelt Levain with Pears is an evolved version of their Pear Spelt loaf. As its predecessor it is only available on Thursdays at Acme retail stores in North Berkeley and San Francisco (and now through Frog Hollow Farm!). The loaf is a round shape with a score on top. It is naturally leavened with Acme’s Levain Starter and contains a blend of Whole and High-Extraction, Spelt and Dark Rye flours. The whole grain flours contribute to the nutty flavor of the bread, which is also sweetened a bit with chopped dried pears. It has a robust, chewy crust and a solid, even-textured crumb.
The loaf is frozen at the peak of freshness and will arrive with defrosting instructions.
This package includes 2 loaves that are shipped frozen. Each loaf measures 8″ × 6″ x 3″ and weighs 1lb and 5oz.
