Organic Hosui Asian Pears
Hosui pears have a rougher, more textured and thicker skin than the other Asian pears we grow at Frog Hollow Farm. Their flesh, while still crunchy, offers a more melting mouthful, making for a spectacular texture combination when eaten out of hand.
With a very sweet with a mild pear taste, their beautiful golden hue makes them ideal for presentation with a distinctively Autumnal feel. Hosui is harvested in late August to mid-September and is available often until late October or early November. We hand-pick these fruits from our trees to ripen to perfection before shipping them to your door.
Bring along one of these Asian pears as a snack, or chop it up for a light, crisp addition to a salad. We also recommend baking and poaching them.
Especially for getting in nutrients on a daily basis, Hosui pears provide a source of fiber, vitamins A, C and K, beta-carotene and minerals magnesium, potassium, calcium, copper and iron.
